We started class off with the gesso etchings. The artists painted the etchings in several layers of paint. Too cool! We started class off by working in the sketchbooks. The artists painted over their gesso etchings. Way cool. We reviewed radial symmetry. Then on to the sand for the beach. We just about had a beach in the studio afterwards! Of course we had to add gold glitter to the sand to make it glisten….

Ava T.

Ava’s smile is worth… !  These are Ava’s Radial Symmetrical Sand Dollars. We studied the Rose Window from Chartres Cathedral in France. She used Prismas, Sharpie,  glitter (of course), India ink, and sand. We found the 5 oceans where sand dollars live. Super job, Ava!

These artists got down and messy today – sketchbooks were first on the list for class this afternoon. The artists layered a variety of paint on top of the etched gesso they created last week. The girls were amazed at the way the etchings turned out. We were all quite messy when we were done….
