Sadler and I had a blast yesterday, as usual. The hour for class always goes so fast. For the summer we are going to add an extra 10 minutes onto his class just so we can get more done. Yesterday Sadler finished his still life. Note the super picture of Sadler and his twin, Owen, with the drawing. Owen does not take art but he comes into the studio Sadler comes to class and when he leaves. Owen always wants to see what Sadler has created. What I think is so cool is, Sadler loves Owen so much he welcomed Owen into the “finished still life” photograph. I always get a picture of the kids when they are finished. Now how many kids would welcome their sibling into a photo showing off their finished project? Sadler put so much work into his drawing and he welcomed Owen into the photo. In class Sadler also ironed/melted his painted tyvek paper. That is the photo shown of the really cool paper. He had a blast ironing the paper. Of course being a boy I had to show him how the iron can disintegrate the paper. Way cool. Next week we are going to start working on a nonobjective abstract on an MDF board. It will be a mixed media painting. He will be using this paper and other papers he will make. Stay tuned!
