I read a Joyce Meyers devotional book every morning. The passage for today was about enjoying each day of your life as a journey. I then started thinking how this pertains to painting. By changing the words a little I came up with a passage about painting. So many of my students concentrate on the finality of a painting instead of enjoying the “journey” of painting. So here: “Don’t wait until the final product of a painting to enjoy it – enjoy the actual act of creating the painting. If you don’t enjoy the actual act of painting you are missing out on the variety of brush strokes, the spreading of paint like butter with a palette knife, the play of one color on top of another color, etc.” Now paint and enjoy.
