This piece is a 30×40 oil, palette knife. I have done it for the Cattlemen Baron’s Ball in April. It will be auctioned off. It is an abstract of downtown buildings. I was influenced by the art of Leger in the early 1900′s. I have enjoyed adding all the details of the buildings. The background ended up being white after I tried gold and yellow. I think the white really sets the other colors off. When I paint my abstracts I like connecting to an artist in the past. Being an Art History fanatic, it is my way of showing respect. My abstracts sometimes just come out of my own imagination or from one of my photos. I just made this one up. It also reminds me of the buildings in cities in the Philippines. I lived there years ago. The city buildings are just crammed packed next to and on top of one another. Anyway, it has been a lot of fun to paint, plus I really enjoy using my palette knives. Oh, and it isn’t finished yet. Enjoy and stay tuned.
