Breagan, Lauren and McKena

These girls are always ready to get started in the studio. We started with a color wheel, except not a round one. I had them paint the color wheel in stripes. This is kinda how they are going to paint their animals – in color order. We had an Art History lesson – we studied “Fur Traders Descending the Missouri River”, 1845, George Caleb Bingham, American. We discussed the life of a fur trader. We decided sometimes the furs may have been kinda icky! I defined “descending.” I discussed the peaceful contrast of the canoe on the Missouri compared to the violence between the Indians and the Pioneers on the land. Look the painting up to see the serenity. McKena asked if I lived back in the pioneer days. I was feeling a tad bit old yesterday. I made it clear that Ms. Ronda was not a pioneer! We found the Missouri River on the globe. Then we had to find all the oceans, the hemispheres & the equator. We noted that we live in Texas which is in the U.S. which is in North America. Wow, we learned a lot. While we were looking for the painting in the art history book we came across “The Last Supper” by Leonardo. We then had a mini sermon from Breagan. We definitely get our weekly Bible study with Breagan. Note the drawings of their animals – here are the artists in order of the drawings: Breagan, McKena, Lauren.   Stay Tuned
